Caroline Relton is a Professor of Epigenetic Epidemiology, MRC Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of the Cancer Research UK Integrative Cancer Epidemiology Programme at the University of Bristol.
Her research aims to identify epigenetic variation in order to predict disease and to understand causes of disease. Her group have investigated genetic, social, behavioural and health related factors in relation to DNA methylation. Her contribution to the NIHR Bristol BRC will be in the translational data science theme, in the development and validation of novel molecular biomarkers for use in patient stratification, prognosis and treatment response.
Caroline has a part-time academic appointment at the University of Bristol alongside her role as Pro-Director for Research & Academic Development at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
